Professor and Chair of Religious Studies

I grew up in cold Nebraska where I was always interested in studying religions, my own and others, and I also loved to travel. So, this led me far and wide–Asia, Europe, Africa and Meso America–to see and to learn. I got my first Masters in Jerusalem, and came back to the US for further education. I loved school and learning, and if I could, I’d still be a student! Well, actually, I am, because i get to learn along with students everyday and I am still enthusiastic teacher and scholar. I love to bring history and texts alive for students and make learning fun. One of greatest memories of education, is that at every level I have had some great teachers that really did make learning enjoyable and fed my curiosity. My love for travel has also made me very active in our Yucatan program (studying the origins of chocolate!) and I have led trips in Europe, the US, Egypt, Jordan and Israel.
