Professor and Chair of Psychology and Neuroscience

I grew up in Southern California and joined Millsaps College in 2013 after spending some time in the Midwest for graduate school. I am deeply committed to the ideals of liberal arts education, and my overarching goal is to help students realize psychology is all around them and not only something found in a textbook. To this end, my classes may include nontraditional grading, applied assessments to highlight those real-world connections and visiting community partners. I love making my assignments as fun as possible (let’s make board games, music playlists, short videos!) to provide my students with many ways of demonstrating their knowledge and get their academic juices flowing. I enjoy mentoring students and helping them prepare for their next steps after Millsaps. I have a Developmental Psychology Lab for students who are interested in pursuing their own research, and each year we travel to regional or national conferences where they can present their original findings.
