Job Summary
The Annual Giving Officer is responsible for planning and implementing annual giving campaigns designed to increase unrestricted support, broaden the base of donors, and strengthen engagement across alumni, parents, faculty/staff, and friends. This role will execute multi-channel solicitation strategies, coordinate volunteer outreach, and manage day-to-day operations of the Annual Fund. The Annual Giving Officer works closely with the Director of Alumni Engagement & Annual Giving, to whom the position reports, and contributes to the donor pipeline that advances individuals into leadership and major giving.
This is a full-time position that works on-site in Jackson, MS with regular office hours from 8:00am – 4:30pm with a one-hour unpaid lunch break. Evening and weekend work is occasionally required to support major events and initiatives.
Job Duties
- Implement all Annual Fund campaigns including direct mail, email, phone outreach, social media, and peer-to-peer initiatives including making recommendations for segmentation, message timing, and channel strategy based on donor data and past performance
- Serve as project lead for annual day-of-giving campaign (Show Your Love), Giving Tuesday Campaign, and May Match Campaign by setting project timelines, coordinating cross‑departmental tasks, and evaluating results to improve future campaigns
- Build and coordinate engagement of volunteers, faculty/staff, and student / young alumni by providing guidance, resources, and oversight to ensure consistent and effective volunteer outreach efforts
- Manage a portfolio of mid-level donors and provide high-touch stewardship in collaboration with other front line fundraisers (Major Gift Officer, Director of Development and Vice President for Institutional Advancement) including recommending next‑step strategies for donor movement within the giving pipeline
- Develop segmented marketing and solicitation plans in partnership with Advancement Services with responsibility for identifying target audiences, tailoring messaging, and advising on data selections
- Track and report progress toward participation and revenue goals by monitoring trends, identifying areas needing adjustment, and preparing regular updates for leadership
- Direct the Annual Fund budget and assist with donor event support as needed including monitoring expenditures and advising on resource needs throughout the fiscal year
- Exercises independent judgment in resolving complex donor issues, determining solicitation approaches, and recommending workflow or systems improvements.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 3–5 years related experience preferred
- Strong organization, communication, and project management skills
- Experience with donor databases or CRM platforms preferred
- Commitment to excellent customer service and ability to interact remotely and in person with all types of donors
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively
Physical & Availability Requirements
- Ability to travel and work occasional evenings/weekends
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Manual dexterity needed for keyboarding and other repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds without assistance.
