Job Title: Director of Information Technology (on-site)

Job Summary
The Director of Information Technology provides leadership and strategic direction for the College’s technology environment and Information Technology department. The position is responsible for ensuring reliable, secure, and effective technology services while helping the College use technology, data, automation, and emerging technologies to advance its academic, administrative, and operational goals.
The Director serves as the College’s senior technology leader and advisor and works collaboratively with institutional leadership, faculty, staff, and campus departments to develop technology priorities, assess risks and opportunities, improve business processes, and ensure technology investments align with the College’s mission and strategic objectives.
The Director provides leadership for technology strategy and planning, cybersecurity, enterprise applications, infrastructure and cloud services, data and system integration, business continuity, technology service delivery, budgeting, vendor management, technology governance, and the development of Information Technology staff.
Job Duties
- Provides leadership, vision, and direction for the Information Technology department and establishes technology priorities that support the mission and strategic goals of the College.
- Develops and executes a multi-year institutional technology strategy aligned with the College’s academic, administrative, operational, and financial priorities.
- Serves as the College’s senior technology advisor and partners with institutional leadership and campus departments to evaluate technology needs, investments, risks, opportunities, and emerging technologies.
- Identifies opportunities to use technology, automation, artificial intelligence, and improved business processes to increase institutional effectiveness and improve services for students, faculty, and staff, and provides leadership for the evaluation, governance, risk management, accessibility, and responsible use of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies across the College.
- Provides leadership for technology governance and project prioritization to ensure technology investments are sustainable, appropriately resourced, and aligned with institutional priorities.
- Leads the College’s cybersecurity and information security program, including security governance, risk management, data protection, identity and access management, security awareness, incident response, regulatory compliance, third-party technology risk management, policy development, and the establishment of appropriate security standards and controls.
- Provides strategic oversight for the College’s enterprise systems environment, including the ERP/SIS platform, Microsoft 365, cloud and SaaS applications, reporting systems, integrations, and other mission-critical business systems.
- Provides leadership for institutional data governance, reporting, analytics, system integration, and decision-support initiatives designed to improve data quality, accessibility, consistency, security, and informed institutional decision-making.
- Ensures the reliable, secure, and sustainable operation of the College’s technology infrastructure, including networks, wireless services, servers, cloud services, telecommunications, identity systems, endpoints, and related technology services.
- Leads technology business-continuity and disaster-recovery planning and ensures appropriate safeguards, recovery capabilities, documentation, and testing are maintained for critical technology services.
- Provides leadership for technology service delivery and establishes appropriate standards and continuous improvement practices to ensure responsive and effective support for students, faculty, and staff.
- Develops and manages the Information Technology operating and capital budgets, technology lifecycle and replacement plans, major procurements, contracts, licensing agreements, and vendor relationships; establishes and administers institutional review standards for technology acquisitions, software implementations, cybersecurity and data-security assessments, accessibility, and technology-related vendor partnerships.
- Recruits, supervises, develops, and evaluates Information Technology staff and builds a high-performing, service-oriented team focused on accountability, professional development, cross-training, documentation, knowledge transfer, succession planning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Represents Information Technology in institutional planning and governance and provides technology leadership for major College initiatives, construction and renovation projects, and other activities with significant technology requirements.
- Maintains awareness of emerging higher-education technology trends and develops relationships with peer institutions, professional organizations, vendors, and external partners to identify opportunities and best practices for the College.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, business, management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and significant professional experience. A master’s degree is desirable.
- Requires substantial progressively responsible information technology experience, including multiple years of management and leadership responsibility across multiple technology disciplines.
- Requires demonstrated experience developing technology strategy, managing technology operations, leading staff, developing and managing operating and capital budgets, managing vendors, and delivering complex organizational, business-process, system-implementation, or technology-transformation initiatives.
- Requires broad knowledge of modern enterprise technology environments, including cloud and SaaS services, networking, virtualization, enterprise applications, cybersecurity, identity and access management, business continuity, data integration, and end-user technology services.
- Requires a strong understanding of cybersecurity, data privacy, risk management, disaster recovery, technology governance, and institutional business continuity.
- Requires demonstrated ability to evaluate emerging technologies and translate institutional needs into practical and sustainable technology strategies.
- Requires strong leadership, communication, relationship-management, analytical, organizational, decision-making, and project-management skills.
- Requires the ability to communicate complex technology issues, risks, costs, and opportunities effectively to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Requires the ability to build productive relationships with institutional leadership, faculty, staff, students, vendors, and external partners.
- Experience in higher education or another complex, mission-driven environment is desirable.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, cloud platforms, enterprise systems, virtualization, modern networking technologies, reporting and analytics platforms, and cybersecurity frameworks is desirable.
