Teaching Fellow in Studio Art

The Art Department at Millsaps College invites applicants for a 1-year non-renewable sabbatical replacement in Studio Art beginning for the 2024-25 academic year. The successful candidate will teach a total of 3 courses–2 in the fall and 1 in the spring. This position will also maintain the materials and equipment for the studios in which they teach. The candidate will be expected to assist with departmental-wide reviews for seniors in both Studio Art and Art History.

This position comes with a private on-campus faculty office as well as a workspace in a $6 million, 17,300 sq. ft. visual arts center with dedicated gallery space (https://www.millsaps.edu/academics/windgate-visual-arts-center/).  Millsaps faculty members are teacher-scholars and teacher-artists; support for research and creative development and travel is available.

Basic Qualifications

  • MFA required
  • Area of concentration in Graphic Design, with experience in drawing and printmaking preferred
  • Strong organizational and writing skills
  • A desire to be an active participant in a small art department.
  • Commitment to inclusive pedagogy, diversity, and equity
