Visiting Assistant Professor of Communication Studies

The English department at Millsaps College seeks a dynamic teacher and scholar to contribute to a growing Communication Studies major. This full-time, visiting position will begin Fall 2024 and will carry a teaching load of six (6) courses during the 2024-2025 academic year.

Candidates should be eager and qualified to teach an introductory course in Communication Studies, courses in media history and media production, and electives in the candidate’s area of focus. Preference will be given to candidates whose research and/or practice intersects with digital cultures, communities, or identities, and to candidates with experience in media production, but candidates in other areas of communication studies and media studies are encouraged to apply.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Communication, Media Studies, Film Studies or related field by the time of appointment; ABD candidates will also be considered.
  • Expertise in digital cultures, communities, or identities preferred but not required.
  • Experience with media production preferred but not required.
  • Commitment to inclusive pedagogy, diversity and equity.
