A concentration in digital art immerses you in new media technology. The concentration places a strong emphasis on graphic design, digital fabrication and animation, providing you with a comprehensive skill set that opens doors to expanding career opportunities in the digital landscape. When you graduate from this program you will be positioned to pursue a career in design, filmmaking, animation, fabrication or emerging technologies.

Featured Courses

Here is a sampling of a few courses that might pique your interest.

ARTS 1400 Beginning Graphic Design
Explore the use of digital media for artistic expression, with a focus on enhancing technical abilities and understanding related issues of design.
ARTS 3650 Digital Arts Internship
Student works with a firm or agency focusing on digital arts or graphic design for at least 75 hours. This internship will count for the digital arts concentration in the studio art major, or for the digital arts minor.

Degree Options

Minor in Digital Arts
Non-studio art majors may minor in digital arts. Students must complete courses in drawing, graphic design and an additional digital elective. Minors may choose to take an internship and have an option to complete electives in other areas of the art department.
Concentration in Digital Arts
Students majoring in studio art can elect to pursue a concentration in digital art. Students who choose this option must complete several basic studio courses (including graphic design), an additional digital elective, complete an internship and focus their senior capstone project in digital processes.

Pathways

Our curriculum emphasizes problem solving and critical thinking skills essential to any career (and therefore any Pathway), as well as scientific writing and experimentation skills that may be especially critical to students interested in any of our six Pathways tracks.
