Summer Term
The Summer Term consists of two off-campus three-week sessions in May and August, two five-week sessions, and one ten-week (Summer Long) session. The full course schedule for the Summer Term is available on Major Portal.

Millsaps Summer Term
Summer Pre-Registration/Registration
Millsaps students are strongly encouraged to register for all summer sessions Monday, April 15 and Tuesday, April 16; however, online registration will remain open until the day before the first day of class. Summer registration occurs in Major Portal by selecting the appropriate term. Students will be expected to pay at the time of registration.
Students from other institutions may request summer term information by contacting the Office of Records at 601-974-1120 or [email protected] or by visiting the Office of Records.
Any course may be subject to cancelation, if the enrollment does not meet the required minimum of five (5) students.
Course Load & Transfer Policy
The maximum load a student may take is 8 semester hours in one term or 16 semester hours in two terms, except with the permission of the Dean of the College.
To transfer credits earned during the summer, a written transcript request must be completed, signed by the department chair, and filed with the Office of Records of Millsaps College.

Courses Recommended for First Years
High school graduates planning to enter college early may want to consider taking courses that meet Millsaps’ Compass Curriculum requirement. To find courses, go to the public class schedule and click the class schedule tab, select a summer term, under “course type” at the bottom search for any of the following: Business Knowledge, Collaboration Badge, Creative Problem Solving Badge, Fine Arts Exploration, Humanities Exploration, Mathematics Exploration, Non-Native Language, STEM Exploration, Understanding Natural World, or Understanding Social World.
Major Experience Courses
Millsaps students of sophomore standing or higher may take summer classes that count toward their Major Experience of the Compass Curriculum. Offerings include study abroad or community-engaged learning. To view the courses that qualify for the Major Experience, go to Major Portal and use the Advanced Search feature. Select one of the 2024 summer sessions from the Term menu and select Major Experience from the Course Type menu.
Tuition & Fees

Undergraduate per hour (1/4 course) $695.00 Graduate per hour $730.00
ACTIVITY FEES
Undergraduate, per term $150.00 Graduate, per hour $ 20.00
LABORATORY FEES $ 75.00
OTHER FEES A $20.00 late fee will be charged for tuition payments not received prior to the first day of class for each summer term and could result in the removal of your class schedule.
For each change of schedule authorization processed, a $30.00 fee will be charged. Any change initiated by the College will have no fee.
A $306.00 fee per semester hour is charged for private music lessons.
All charges are due and payable at the time of registration. There is no provision for deferred payment in the summer term.
Student Internship Tuition
Student internships for the summer term will be billed at a reduced tuition rate of $220.00 per hour and a summer activity fee of $150.00. Internships require an application form to be submitted to the Office of Records.
Auditing Courses
Students may audit courses at a tuition rate of $200.00 per hour and comprehensive fee of $15.00 per hour. Courses may be audited with approval of the instructor. Students must indicate their intention to audit at the time of registration.
Graduate courses $730.00 per hour and a comprehensive fee of $20.

Meals
Meals will be available on a cash basis when the dining room is open. Students enrolled for classes in the summer term may use their Major Bucks account for meals in the cafeteria.
Residence Housing
College housing is available for the Summer I, Summer II and Summer Long sessions in one of the College’s newer residence halls (John, Susanna, or Charles). Amenities include a single suite-style room, a full kitchen, two sitting areas, an indoor laundry facility, and two study areas.
Space is limited. Students requesting housing should submit a completed application to Student Life by Friday, April 5, 2024.

* Rates will be $750 per term for students not enrolled in classes but who have received approval from Residence Life to remain on campus. Preference will be given to those enrolled in classes or completing internships for academic credit.

Students choosing to stay in residence halls between summer sessions will be charged a daily intercession fee of $50.
Refunds
Room rent cannot be refunded after the session has begun. A student who drops or withdraws from a course or courses within two days, including the date of the first meeting of classes on regular schedule, will be entitled to a refund of 80 percent of tuition and fees; within four days, 60 percent; within six days, 40 percent; within eight days, 20 percent. If a student remains in college for eight class days or more, no refund will be made.
Students receiving Federal Financial Aid will be subject to the Federal guidelines with respect to withdrawal.
Financial Aid
In order to receive financial assistance at Millsaps College you must be admitted to the college as a degree-seeking student. Completion of the Summer 2024 Application for Financial Aid is required to determine financial aid eligibility. The form is available from the Office of Financial Aid at 601.974.1220 or email us!.
UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE LOANS
Loans are available on a limited basis for summer coursework. You may be eligible for Federal Direct Loans only if you have remaining annual eligibility for these funds and are enrolled in at least six (6) hours of classes over the course of the summer. You may be eligible for an Alternative Student Loan, but you are responsible for applying for this type of loan directly with a private student loan lender. UNDERGRADUATE GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS
You may be eligible for Federal Pell Grant funds only if you have remaining annual eligibility for these funds and are enrolled in at least six (6) hours of classes over the course of the summer.
If you have been awarded a Millsaps scholarship or grant for summer coursework, you must complete the Summer 2024 Application for Financial Aid in order for the funds to be added to your financial aid award.
GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS
Graduate scholarship amount is determined by the number of hours enrolled and requires completion of the Summer 2024 Graduate Application for Financial Aid in order to calculate the correct scholarship amount. The form is available from the Office of Financial Aid at 601.974.1220 or email us!

Campus Facilities
During summer school, the Millsaps-Wilson Library computer lab is available anytime the Library is open, unless it is reserved for a class. Sullivan Harrell computer labs are available only for classes. The Maurice H. Hall Activities Center and tennis courts are available to enrolled students.
