Student Success Coaches
Setting You Up For Success
We know that making the transition from high school to college can be a challenge. That’s why each first-year student at Millsaps is connected with a Student Success Coach the summer before they arrive on campus. In consultation with the student and a team of faculty, Success Coaches build custom schedules for our students’ first semesters designed around their academic strengths, long-term goals and personal interests.
Don’t know who your Success Coach is? Reach out to [email protected] and we’ll get you in touch!
Once students arrive on campus, our Success Coaches provide first-year students with:
- General academic advising, including schedule building, any necessary schedule changes and 4-year academic planning
- Holistic support for the transition from high school to college
- Guidance on accessing college resources, such as tutoring, counseling and the health center
- Coaching on vital college skills such as managing workload, taking notes and communicating with faculty
- Assistance navigating challenges that may be hindering academic or personal success
- Encouragement to explore, define and reach personal and professional goals.
