Anthropology is the study of human beings and their ancestors. Classes incorporate the natural sciences, the humanities and the social sciences. Compare human societies across the globe and across time by examining cultures, language and artifacts.
Archaeology involves detailed studies of past civilizations, including how they ate, thought, built and operated as a society. Not only will you study on campus, but you can take part in Millsaps’ own archaeological projects.
With economics you will learn about a wide range of forces that shape our economy and society and examine issues such as poverty, growth, unemployment, income inequality, trade, health care, the environment and regulation.
Mold the minds of the future. Millsaps College offers the pathways for those interested in education, education-allied fields or youth-focused professions.
Government and Politics — With a degree in government and politics, you can pursue a career in areas such as public service, government, teaching, law, business, journalism, public affairs and international relations.
A military science minor students will participate in a partnership with Jackson State University and the United States Army to earn credit hours toward the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program.
Neuro- and cognitive science focuses on the structure and function of the central nervous system. Understand brain development and how our central nervous system controls so many of our behaviors and cognitions.
Neurophilosophy studies the conceptual, physical, behavioral and moral aspects of cognition and the mind-brain.
Pre-health tracks include dentistry, medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, optometry, pharmacy, physical therapy and veterinary medicine. Millsaps has cooperative agreements for automatic acceptance with schools across the region.
Psychology is a behavioral science that focuses on understanding developmental, cognitive, social and mental health issues that are a natural part of the human experience.
In a world of conflict where intercultural understanding is of ever-growing importance, religious studies offers profound encounters with other people’s ways of imagining, thinking and living.
